My name is Rob Allchin. In 1986, I embarked on my journey in the building trade, undertaking a 4-year apprenticeship that culminated in the qualification of the City & Guilds Advanced Craft in bricklaying and site management. In 1989, I was also awarded the honour of being named the City & Guilds Apprentice of the Year for the South East region. A significant portion of my apprenticeship, 18 months, was dedicated to the restoration of a Grade II Listed Building nestled in the picturesque Sussex village of Alfriston.
After my apprenticeship, I joined a prominent, family-owned, local building company. Progressing steadily through the ranks, I eventually assumed the role of site foreman. This position entrusted me with overseeing technical, intricate and sizable residential projects. My role involved the seamless collaboration among diverse trades. This required good communication skills, as I liased with clients, our management team, architects, building control authorities, suppliers, and more.
This journey, spanning decades, has been marked by an unwavering commitment to excellence and an innate passion for the art of construction
